Description:

GLOBAL DANCING “think global and dance local” Dancing is not only to learn a dance-technique, it is also a way of thinking of/with the human body and its ability to place all that knowledge into space and time. Anyway „the brain is only a muscle” (freely interpreted after Yvonne Rainer).
Goal: the participant meets an “open source teaching system”, which aim is to experiment with an intentional shift inside of very same movement to recognize the connection between different dance styles (such as contemporary, contact, afro, modern, ballet, or even hip-hop and jazz dance). This way the mover realizes the base of movement and at the end of the class approaches the goal of global dancing. He/She is able to make the intentional shift from one style to the other, melting techniques together, and understanding basic movement rules valid for all movement approaches. This will make the student flexible not only in his mind, but also is preparing him/her for his later career for stage performance, auditions or own teaching.
How to reach that?
In my class I am focussing on:
*the correct usage of the head/tail connection and integral body movement
*re-learning and studying walking and running in all directions and levels
*dancing with the impact of falls and crashes into rolls and slides
*working with the effect of gravitation during motion in general
*movement initiated by spirals and curves
*the influence of weight shift on movement in the space coming in and out of the floor
*easy acrobatic dance move
*free style, using the „class information” to challenge the students creativity and ability to *improvise

I am using elements of:
David Zambrano’s flying low philosophy and technique, combining with my knowledge from release- , contemporary - and contact dance technique, as well as from Capoeira, break dance, afro, parkour ,bodyparkour a.o.
In each class we will create a dance combination building up on these elements to very different rhythmical qualities and music pieces. The student is challenged to experiment with very different dance styles and performance qualities and intentions.
